Addressing Unique Sexual Health Considerations for the Older Adult Population
This presentation explores how sexuality evolves throughout the lifespan, discusses myths and provides facts about the sex lives of older adults, addresses unique considerations and risks for the older adult population (including increased risk for HIV/AIDS and STDs), re-defines sexual intercourse, and speaks about ways in which medical and mental health professionals can help older adults to advocate for their pleasure and safety.

POLICY FOR ACCOMMODATION FOR DISABILITIES
Under Michigan Persons with Disabilities Civil Rights Act and the Federal American with Disabilities Act, Wayne County Geriatric Social Work Association has a legal obligation to accommodate a guests’ disability, unless the accommodation would impose an undue hardship on the organization. A disabled guest may allege a violation against an organization regarding a failure to accommodate his or her disability under Michigan law only if the disabled person notified the organization in writing of the need for accommodation within 182 days after the date the disabled person knew or reasonably should have known that the accommodation was needed.
