 “Pain in the Elderly: Myths, Facts and Barriers”

This course will increase the participant’s knowledge on caring for pain in elderly patients. The participant will gain an understanding of different types of pain and the World Health Organization model for pain management. It will also help the participant to develop an awareness of barriers to good pain control as well as pain assessment tools that can be used for all patients, including those who are non-verbal.

Target audience: social workers, all levels, with geriatric clients. Free to GSWSM members, $10 entry fee for guests and non-members. 1.5 CEU is available for this presentation through the MI Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative
