Presenter: Karen Monts
Karen Monts has been employed in the work of end-of-life and grief support care for over 32 years. She is currently the Director of Grief Support Services and Practice Manager of Counseling Services for Hospice of Michigan where she is responsible for overall leadership and directing of grief support services for Northstar Care Community. She assists with practice, policy, and educational needs for the spiritual care and social work staff. She developed the Bereavement Risk Assessment which has been instrumental in assisting clinicians with determining grief risk. Her proudest achievement is leading the production of a program for Detroit Public Television - When Families Grieve: A Community Discussion.
She earned a MS in Psychology from the University of Michigan and is a Licensed Bachelor Social Worker with training as a Trauma and Loss Specialist through the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children. She also serves on the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization’s Bereavement Steering Committee, Association for Death Education Credentialing Committee, as well as a participant with National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation. Karen also serves on the Ethics Consultation Committee.
Course Description:
Increase awareness and knowledge of human trafficking.
Define human trafficking and vulnerable populations.
Discuss how to identify and report signs of human trafficking.
