Dementia and the Effects of Medications Used

This course will explain common forms of dementia, medications to treat dementia and their effects on the patient.  Also discussed will be how medications can affect mental status of a patient.

By the end of the course the participants will be able to:

1.      Briefly discuss most common forms of dementia and classic features of each

2.      Discuss medications used to treat dementia

3.      Discuss medications used to treat coexsistent non-cognitive symptoms of AD

4.      Discuss how medications used to treat ‘everyday maladies’ can affect mental status
